Tracy Douglas: Your GenX Therapist in Janesville, WI, and Online Across Wisconsin and Texas
When I was lucky enough to find Tracy, it changed everything for me
She was so different from anyone else I’ve ever had. She has made me feel comfortable and safe enough to be vulnerable and honest. Her positive, gentle, understanding approach has been so inspirational that it has allowed me to understand myself enough to learn and apply helpful techniques and habits to help regulate myself, and to treat myself with grace, love, and understanding.
She is also not afraid to call me out when necessary, and her honesty has been very helpful when I find myself falling back into unhealthy patterns that I may unconsciously consider my “comfort zone. She is also very real, down to earth, and human. She isn’t afraid to share some of her vulnerabilities that are relatable, and how some similar circumstances may have affected her life then and now, and what she has learned from her experiences.
I find it so refreshing to have the relationship we share, as opposed to the cold, unconnected, scripted, and unreliable therapists of my past. I’m used to someone sitting at a desk with a pen and paper, asking the same scripted questions that don’t always match every situation. In the past, I have not gotten very helpful feedback or insight, I’ve always felt like just “a number,” and I found it very difficult to find someone who STAYS around long enough to actually form a bond in order to come up with a treatment plan specific to me and my situation.
We all have our own unique issues, trauma, etc., and we all develop our own ways of coping. We don’t all need the same kind of care. Tracy is so good at adapting her care to fit each individual’s needs, and she shows genuine care and understanding while maintaining professionalism.Tracy is amazing. She is a true gift to the industry. I’m sure all of her clients would totally agree. She goes above and beyond with her care, making each of us feel worthy, important, and like we matter, when the way most of us have grown up, we were made to feel just the opposite. She has been an absolute godsend to me, and I have come so far in her care. She has been my rock.

She has been so flexible in trying different therapeutic models to find what works for me and to challenge me while simultaneously respecting my boundaries.
When we moved during the pandemic, I put off trying to find another therapist because it is so much work. Who takes my insurance, who has availability, who will I connect with? Thankfully, my husband is a brilliant researcher and found Tracy. From day one, I knew that we would be a good match.
Her world experience is relatable, and I have always felt that she isn’t just to understand me but that she truly does understand because her road has not been dissimilar. Through this connection, she’s helped me navigate building accommodations at my workplace, finding my artistic place in my world, being a solid parent to my young adult kids, and being an adult child to my aging parents. Since I began seeing her, I’ve grown in confidence in my ability to own my world.
While under her care, I have progressed in my ability to handle certain triggering situations and have learned when it is okay to remove myself from situations that I just shouldn’t have to learn to handle.I’ve also been brave enough to try alternative interventions – some that have worked and some that haven’t. Previously, when an intervention failed, I always blamed myself for being so broken. Tracy has helped me see that, like Edison with his lightbulb, failure isn’t an end but just one more thing that isn’t for me.
While not every therapist is a match for every personality type, there are very few people in my world to whom I wouldn’t recommend Tracy. Her desire to understand the whole person and to work from their belief system, boundaries, and needs is unmatched in my experience. I appreciate her methodology of providing me with research from the social and medical communities (as a debate coach, I’m all about the research and why things work the way they do), providing me with additional places to find thoughts that might be helpful to me and her transparent honesty.
The client must trust the care provider – in mental health even more so than physical health to ensure that trauma moves toward healing and not additional trauma. >Therapy is—to use the overwrought word—a journey. Sometimes, one needs a GPS giving explicit instructions throughout and sometimes just an occasional reminder to take the 90-degree right instead of the 75-degree right turn. And those needs change as the driver navigates more and less familiar terrain.

I truly believe Tracy has been a lifeline for me during some of the most challenging times of my life.
I started seeing Tracy in March 2020 right as the pandemic started, and continue to see progress and improvements in my outlook on life and I feel more confident and capable than I have in a very long time.
Tracy’s compassionate and non-judgmental approach provides the safe space I need to navigate pain from my past, overcome imposter syndrome and trust issues, and repair and rebuild relationships with my family.
Her unwavering support and guidance have also been instrumental in my recovery from trauma, and in finding hope and resilience amidst suicidal ideation.
Tracy’s genuine care and expertise have made all the difference in my journey towards healing, and I am profoundly grateful for her impact on my life.

Tracy has a unique combination of personal qualities and skills that come together to serve our world in so many ways.
In the decade that I have known Tracy, I have been impressed with her professionalism and integrity, her positive spirit and genuine care, and her clinical skills and abilities.
Her energy and commitment, combined with her passion and compassion, create a powerful force in all her work.
Beyond the work accolades I can offer and there are many, what is perhaps most important is that Tracy Douglas is an amazing human being.
It is my opinion that Tracy is indeed one of the great ones.
I sought out services when I was struggling to find my own self-worth in my marriage. I was in an abusive marriage and didn’t even realize it. Tracy has helped me navigate my way through the journey of finding myself again.
Her treatment philosophy, style, and milieu changed my life as well as the lives of my children. I will be forever grateful for seeking out services and finding Tracy. She continues to help me navigate each chapter of my life in such a positive way.
I’ve worked in mental health for 34 years. I’m grateful for the knowledge I have from working in health care for as long as I have as well as for my own self-awareness. I have had the privilege of working with some of the best psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and psychotherapists. I have also worked with and witnessed the not so good providers.

She presents a strong, patient centered work ethic.
I have known Tracy since October 2013. Working as a primary care provider within the same community, not only have Tracy and I shared patients, but also work colleagues. Within this relationship, Tracy is consistently brought a positive energy.
She is kind, approachable, and naturally easy to work with in communicating with her.
She is motivated and thinking, able to help others, explore opportunities and work through challenges their life presents. I would highly recommend her.
Since I began seeing her, I’ve grown in confidence in my ability to own my world.
Tracy increased my therapy sessions as needed and talked me through all of my fears, doubts, and concerns. She helped me understand how grieving the loss of my old lifestyle, the way my family functioned before, and all of the new changes I was feeling were completely normal and appropriate. Even though talking through my fears made me feel vulnerable at first (as I shared fears that I hadn’t shared with anyone else before), Tracy helped me feel completely seen for who l was. After I allowed myself to grieve, I felt lighter and truer to myself.
Tracy has been an amazing support in my journey as a parent. Her wisdom has helped me work through past traumas as l am sometimes triggered as I parent my children. The most powerful skill l’ve learned is to be compassionate to myself and my inner child. I now practice talking to myself with the same empathy and sensitivity I have when I talk to my children. I now know that my younger self deserved to be seen, heard and unconditionally loved. I am grateful to get to break generational trauma cycles and to teach my children a different way to love and be loved.
I am Mexican American, and it is difficult to find a trustworthy clinician of color who I can identify with. Tracy has most recently helped me process and navigate conversations about race with a relative. Discussions around race can always be difficult to talk through, but they can especially be taxing when those conversations occur with loved ones.
Tracy understands the nuances that people of color have to consider. After several sessions with Tracy, I feel more confident in what I need in order to feel psychologically safe enough to have these discussions. I am grateful to have Tracy help guide me as I learn how to articulate those needs to loved ones.
I would refer anyone needing support or counseling to see Tracy Douglas as a provider. She is open minded, down to earth, supportive, and most importantly, she truly sees and cares about her patients’ authentic selves. She creates an environment for her patients to grow and flourish. I feel immensely blessed and fortunate to get to have her as part of my support system.

Through my time with Tracy I've made great progress.
Tracy created an environment that made me feel comfortable to open myself up and talk about hard trauma in my past. I feel safe in our sessions. She was and continues to be extremely patient and trustworthy. Load sharing with Tracy and talking through the hard times in my life has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.
I feel like I can breathe easier, I feel more free, I feel confident moving forward in my life, and it has put a lot of things into perspective for me. I’m so grateful that I have someone like Tracy in my life who I trust. I would refer Tracy to anyone in need of a therapist. She has helped me tremendously and is a smart, real, trustworthy, down to earth, non-judgmental person.
She’s an incredible listener and I truly wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her. I’m not the best writer but I know people. Tracy Douglas is an amazing person and therapist.

She never made me feel like I was being judged or criticized
She guided me through a divorce, post-partum, sharing custody of my child, co-parenting, an unhealthy relationship, family issues, medical diagnoses, and career obstacles. I would not be the mother, person, or professional I am today if it was not for her. She provides a nurturing and transparent approach that made me feel safe talking about some difficult things.
She gave me the skills I needed to strive today. My anxiety has decreased significantly, and I am using coping skills in a way I never could before. I like myself again and found the version of me I knew I could be. Due to everything I have stated before, I would refer Tracy to anyone and everyone that I could think of. I
believe she has the skills to help anyone who graces her therapy room. I know she would match her style to the needs of whoever she is providing services to, and they would feel nothing but safe and comfortable with her. I would follow her wherever she went, and I am sure many others who have gone to her for therapy would do the same.
And there is no one that I believe could provide me with better services than Tracy. So, for me, I either go to Tracy or I don’t receive therapeutic services because no one could even come close to comparing to her.

Within a few sessions, Tracy had helped me to realize that the path I was taking was truly unsustainable.
I started working with Tracy because I was having issues with just about everything in my life. At the time, I was chronically low on sleep, over-caffeinated, my emotions were erratic, I worked 50 plus hours a week regularly, and I was struggling in my marriage. Life was a truly struggle.
There was some solo therapy involved through the years, but nothing seemed to help. I was so stressed from everything that I had trouble maintaining eye contact with her. I was sitting on her couch just shaking and twitching from the constant overload I had created for myself.
I decided I needed to change something or my life was going to be in real trouble. I still remember how I felt during my first few sessions with Tracy.
Over the last 8 years, Tracy has helped me so much. She has helped me to learn about my emotions, get more in tune with my health, and be a better partner for my wife. Tracy has really done so much for me.

The progress that I’ve made myself directly reflects the work that Tracy has done with me.
Throughout the duration of receiving services from Tracy, she has not only equipped me with strategies to encourage self-reflection, but also encouraged practices of self-regulation. Tracy is always very in tune with my current state, so much so that she has incorporated breathing techniques to support centering myself to better navigate the day’s challenges.
There have been a plethora of strategies that Tracy has implemented during our sessions together, such as encouraging writing down emotions to better aid and processing big emotions, as well as, listening to various sought after researchers through podcasts.I had purchased a text in which Tracy referenced in sessions, and while reading it, I made text-to-self connections, which supported our conversations.
The strategies Tracy, uses during our sessions are firmly rooted in research, bolstered by natural principles, and tailored to address specific present needs. I have reached a deeper level of self-understanding. The value that Tracy provides Is unparalleled to others. I would refer, and have referred colleagues to Tracy, especially those who serve in the educational realm.
Her ability to connect, establish a sense of trust, educate on various strategies and empower her clients, particularly myself, is unrivaled.
She’s an active listener who is able to reference past discussions, based on her precise note taking skills, while giving guidance. At the end of the day, I am able to stand a little taller with confidence knowing I have the support and encouragement from Tracy.

Tracy has been my mental health therapist to address my low self-esteem and family issues.
The time I have spent with Tracy has proved to be highly productive for me. When I began my sessions with Tracy, I suffered from low self-esteem, and struggled with family issues that I felt at the time I would never be able to resolve. However, Tracy patiently listened to what I had to say, and provided options and different perspectives for me to explore and consider.
Through time, her perspectives allowed me the chance to delve in depth what I needed to address to allow me to go in the direction to help resolve my issues. Because of her trusting nature, my self-esteem has grown significantly.
That not only helped in my place of employment, but also with my personal relationships. My employee performance evaluations improved considerably, which was a direct result of my sessions with Tracy. She helped me see that I had value as a person.
I would highly recommend Tracy to others as she is very energetic, compassionate, and is truly committed to her profession to help people. She also has a great sense of humor that helped me to see the humorous side of life.

I really attribute her skills, understanding, empathy, and knowledge to helping me get to where I am today.
During my time working with Tracy, I worked on processing my grief. I learned to manage my own stress and how to care for myself when caring for children with different needs. I have never been able to engage with a therapist in the past as I have been able to with Tracy. She made me feel heard and taught me how important and necessary it is to take care of myself.
Another goal was to improve my self-esteem. I want to feel better about myself and lose weight. In working with her, I was finally able to get to a point where I knew I needed to put myself first and take care of me, so I was a better and more available parent to my children and partner to my husband. I have since improved my physical health and lost 100 lbs.
I am nearing the end of my therapy with Tracy and really attribute her skills, understanding, empathy, and knowledge to helping me get to where I am today. My children are older and through the skills I have learned in therapy I have been able to take care of myself and also support my children and help them through difficult times.

When I returned to in person appointments, the relationship, trust, and rapport we had built transferred seamlessly.
In the midst of social isolation, it was invaluable to be able to connect and work with Tracy. Tracy creates a safe environment where I feel seen, heard, valued. She holds space for me to unload and process.
Tracy has helped me identify the sources of my stress and anxiety and develop positive coping skills. She has worked with me to deconstruct the negative beliefs I had about myself and helped me to build self-confidence and self-esteem.
Tracy has guided me through tough work situations and has helped brainstorm possible solutions. I truly feel Tracy cares about every aspect of my life, and aims to support me in each facet.
The trajectory of my life has changed becausee of the work I’ve been able to do with Tracy. I am no longer paralyzed by fear of the future or unknown. I have newfound courage to pursue my dreams.
I understand the value of self-care and maintaining boundaries. I am confident that I would not be the person I am today without her valuable guidance and encouragement.

Tracy has helped me recognize these sources and taught me that while these things happened to me, they don’t define me.
I came to Tracy to work through my anxiety and depression. She has not only taught me specific strategies to help me stay present and grounded when my anxiety seems to be out of control, but also daily management skills for my depression and anxiety.
She has taught me communication skills that I have been able to use with my loved ones to open up with them about my struggles. In being able to speak more openly with my loved ones, it allowed me to feel comfortable enough to bring my husband to some of my appointments.
Those sessions helped us learn how to better understand each other’s needs more clearly. The discussions we have are not always focused on present events; she has also helped me dig deeper to see where my anxiety and depression come from.
Most importantly, she has taught me about seeing myself in a more positive light. I would happily refer Tracy to family, friends, or anyone looking for therapy services. Her compassion is second to none.
You can feel that she truly cares about her patients and doesn’t just go through the motions. She is invested in helping her patients reach their best potential. Tracy has a great ability to connect with people and make them feel at ease when they talk with her. She is an exceptional therapist.

She’s exactly what her client needs when they need it
The time I’ve spent with Tracy has been transformative. I’ve had a handful of counselors through the years, and they all helped to some degree, yet I felt no different.
I knew more about myself, but I didn’t feel different until I began working with Tracy. To simply state my own journey, I’ve been looking to open a deeper emotional connection within myself and others. To stop being afraid and to reconcile the trauma and abuse I suffered in childhood.
The progress I’ve made from being unable to mention or acknowledge what happened to being able to mention it here is proof of her amazing work. I would not be the person I am today without her, and I wonder if I would even be here to write this if not for her.
Whether that’s a by the book therapist one day to a friend to cry with the next, she adapts and innovates on the fly, only to the comfort level one can tolerate in the moment. What I do know is that I am always getting her best and the best care possible.
I could fill pages of praise, lines and lines of commendation, but the summary of it all would be that Tracy Douglas is a one in a million therapist. I wholeheartedly recommend Tracy with full confidence that she will help others with the same kindness and care she has provided not only to myself but countless others.

I’ve referred many students to Tracy, specifically, as I know they will be provided the highest level of care.
I’ve referred many students to Tracy, specifically, as I know they will be provided the highest level of care.
Tracy is kind, compassionate, extremely knowledgeable, and takes the time necessary to coordinate care in an effective manner. I’ve seen her make progress with children and adolescents with hom other community therapists were unable to.
She’s taken time to educate me on student’s mental health needs, when I’ve requested information. She’s advocated for her clients to obtain the support they need at home, in the community, and in the educational setting. She’s taught individuals skills they need to achieve their goals, regardless of, oftentimes, being in difficult circumstances.
